Transforming the word “Crisis”: From Negative to Positive

Currently, most of us are living in a state of fear, dealing with a crisis that has swept the world in an incredible loss of life and stability. Although countries are now actively working towards prevention and cure of the virus, the real-time updates of doom and gloom can keep us down if we let it.

The tragedy and the pain is there, but we can never forget that as a part of the enduring human society, we bear the great responsibility of leading towards a better future. And for that to happen, we need to keep an optimistic outlook even within this crisis to survive and thrive in the world post-COVID-19.

Being positive doesn’t mean blind or arrogant towards a very serious threat. And by all means, COVID-19 is a serious threat. Being positive involves understanding the threat, assessing its effect on life and economy, and finding a safe and healthy way to contribute towards the betterment of the community and the world. It is about making safe and responsible decisions to bring change.

Why Being Positive Is Important?

Because it leads people to find solutions for challenges at hand. Therefore, it should be easy to understand that without a positive outlook, what you will have in a crisis is depression, inaction, lack of hope to get out of the issues, and lack of progress. The history of human society is a great testament to the positive outlook in every era.

Let us take a few notes on how to go about it?

Know What Is Important

As we already said, to be positive, you have to be knowledgeable about the current scenario. Without the proper knowledge, you cannot make a proper assessment, and without proper assessment, you cannot divine a way forward. For example, in the current scenario, you have to know how to protect yourself from COVID-19 infection. Once you know that, you can help your loved ones to stay safe and they can help the community.

Knowing the path forward and acting on it are parts of a self-sustaining circle that builds confidence to fight the crisis and creates hope for a better future, which is what positive outlook means in a nutshell.

Identify and Solve Challenges

After you are empowered with the knowledge to protect yourself and your family from the crisis, you can maintain and even inspire people to keep a positive outlook by focusing on finding solutions for personal and professional challenges. Crisis does bring inconvenience and creates a lot of confusion, hurdles, and challenges in personal and professional parts of your lives. If you were planning to stay still and wait out the crisis, without facing these new challenges, just think what would happen to the world if everyone decided to do the same?

I believe that the only way out of the problem is facing it and changing ourselves to survive and thrive. So, start identifying the challenges in front of your lives and start making responsible decisions to solve them.

Stay Connected

Keeping a positive outlook is a psychological practice of staying strong and finding a way out of the crisis without panicking or making the wrong decision. To do this effectively, you need the help of your near and dear ones. So, stay connected with your friends safely and have positive discussions on your understanding of the scenario and your decisions or actions to get out of it. These discussions will help you prioritize your decisions/actions and inspire others to act positively as well.

Be a Part of the Community

As a part of a community, you should focus on inspiring your community to have a positive outlook. Believe me, it is much easier to make positive changes happen in the world when you and your community is working as one. And the impact of a wholesome change is the best result you can hope to see by upholding a positive outlook.

I truly believe that only with a positive outlook we can hope to improve and only together we can change the world for the better. So, all that is left is to act accordingly and step towards a sustainable and safe future.
